Action Alert SB 161

|

CTA-opposed SB 161 (Huff), a bill to allow non-medical personnel to administer Diastat rectally to students having epileptic seizures, has cleared the Senate and is now in the Assembly. The bill is being heard by the following committees in this order:  Assembly Business and Professions, Education and Appropriations.

·   At this time, making constituent contacts into local Assembly district offices is critical. It does not matter if the contacts are from teachers, classified employees, their family members, your family members, staff members, friends, etc. - particularly registered voters. Please share this request for help with as many individuals as possible.

Specifically, it's vital for you to call legislators' district offices and then fax them a letter.

·   If you'd like even more background, you can use the following link to find CTA's letter of opposition to the bill and other items: http://www.cta.org/Issues-and-Action/Health-Care/Index.aspx.

·   To learn more about the bill and to take action against it, click on http://capwiz.com/nea/ca/home/

·   The site will both provide information and link you to CTA's Contact Your Lawmakers site, where you will be able to fax messages to lawmakers. You will also be able to get their district office phone numbers from that site.

(You may need to paste the above web address directly into your browser if the link doesn't work when you click on it.)

Please close the loop by e-mailing any feedback from your lawmakers to CTA Advocate Toni Trigueiro at CTA - ttrigueiro@cta.org.
