|

Cupertino was very well represented at this year's Santa Clara County Service Center Council awards dinner.

The event, held May 12 recognized the Cupertino parent group, "Their Future is Now" with the county's "Gold Award," an award that "honors individuals or organizations whose leadership, acts and support have indicated they are true friends of public education, educators or students," according to the SCCSCC. The parent group is being recognized for the work that they did in raising money to save teacher jobs, and their work to help pass a parcel tax.

Cupertino Education Association Communications Director Kathy Young was also recognized with the county's WHO Award, an award that "recognizes teachers who have made a significant contribution to the teaching profession and is awarded at the chapter level and at the service center level as well."

The Santa Clara County Service Center coordinates and communicates between the many California Teacher Association chapters throughout the county, says SCCSCC Chair John Lindner.

"It's our way of saying thank you to our members for their work both in the association as well as with their students," Lindner says.

There are 33 chapters within Santa Clara County, including the Cupertino chapter.
